Doctor's Appointment & First Belly Picture

Week 12
We had a doctor's appointment yesturday to hear Little Bold's heart beat. Dr. B said everything seems normal and Little Bold's heart beat was at 160. The only thing Dr. B said that I need to be aware of is my blood type is A- so I will have to get a shot come 28 weeks. There is only a slight risk if Little Bold has positive blood or any type, but nothing that can't be fixed. It's pretty sad that after almost 28 years of life I'm just now finding out my blood type.

In other news I have taken my first belly picture. Sorry for not giving a full smile, out of the pictures we took this happens to be the best one of my belly and that's what people are looking at anyways, right?

My mom was also in town and took me and baby shopping! Shopping for Little Bold will be so much easier once we know if it's a boy or girl. Just 6 more weeks and we will know.

11 Weeks

We are now at 11 weeks, so what does that mean. On a good note our baby's vital organs are now formed and functioning. Little-Bold is also now the size of a lime. On another note, I'm still nausea, have headaches, and can't sleep. I'm am so ready to be past week 13 in hopes that the 2nd trimester is better.

A few things people don't tell you about your first trimester, at least for me:
1. You can go from being angry one second to crying the next. (Husbands need to be warned about this)
2. You can learn to control your emotions but probably not until you lash out at your husband at least once.
3. You're hungry but not a darn thing sounds good.
4. Food that does sound good doesn't always meet your expectations.
5. You will have some doubts about whether there is still a baby in your tummy, but remember there is nothing you can do to change the situation and God is in control.
6. If you are like me and don't like water, being pregnant won't change that, you just have to learn that you need it and Crystal Light can be your best friend.
7. You might not sleep like a baby anymore and that mattress that you once thought was comfortable, isn't so much anymore.
8. This might be TMI, but it is possible for you to have more gas than your husband.

This all might sound like I'm complaining but I'm not, they are just things I was unaware of. I'm very thankful for the gift God has given us. We are so excited! We just can't help ourselves but to go into a baby store at least once a week just to look, Corey does let me buy one thing every time we go to a baby store!

First Ultrasound - 8 Weeks

On Tuesday February 23rd we got to see our baby for the first time. Dr. Barki doesn't normally do ultrasounds this early, but we were anxious to see if there was one or two babies in there. Well there is just one.
You can see Little-Bold's head on the right. We also got to hear the heartbeat which just made me smile bigger. Corey was grinning from ear to ear from the moment we got into the ultrasound room until he went to sleep that night. We were so excited that we even went and bought our crib after having lunch together. We had already gone and picked out the crib we wanted right after we found out we were expecting, what can I say we're planners. I know it's crazy, right? If I think the negative thoughts of "we still have a chance of a miscarriage" I get down and upset and that's not healthy for me or the baby, so we are trying to look forward for what's to come. That's not to say I'm not going to have times out doubt whether there is still a baby, because I will. But I have a husband that keeps me positive and makes me smile, and I have a God that will protect me.

The Mystery of God

February has had it's ups and downs. On February 4th my friend Melissa, met for the first and last time her baby boy Caleb. At 20 weeks she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. I was in the hospital room when everything was taking place, this is not something anyone should have to go through. Hearing "God has a plan", or "At least you got to hold him" are empty words to a woman who has just lost their child. The Bible says in Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted.", Psalms 34:18 "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those that are crushed in spirit." These are things we know to be true. Please continue to pray for Chris and Melissa while they heal and try to move forward.

Bockus Trio

Addison Rose Bockus is here!! Born Sunday January 24th. She is absolutely beautiful!! We enjoyed waiting up at the hosiptal until we knew mommy and baby were ok and got to see a few pictures, then we let the family go in and see Addie and we headed home at 2 a.m. Sunday morning.

This is a picture of her when Corey and I went to see her for the first time on Sunday morning. I can't wait to hold her again!

Congratulations Hank and Marie, we are so excited for you guys!!

Big News in January for the Boldings

I had horrible pain at the beginning of the month and after going to the doctor we realised that there could be the possibility that I have endometriosis, which can cause infertility. So we scheduled an ultra sound for the 26th, to make sure the medicine wasn't causing cyst and that I didn't have stage 4 of endometriosis. This automatically made me think that I didn't ovulate this month and there is a possibility that I might not be able to conceive. So I put it in God hands and asked that He give me peace and to open my heart to other options. The other option for us was adoption. So I looked up a few local adoption agencies and read some of the stories. Adoption is a great option and I started to warm up to the idea that this is what we are going to have to do. I went in on Jan.19th to have blood drawn to see if I ovulated. So on Friday January 22nd, I called Rhonda, Dr. Barki's nurse to find out if I ovulated this month. I DID!! She said that my levels were really good. I was so excited to hear that the medicine was working and I ovulated. I wasn't excited because I had a chance of getting pregnant this month but because I knew the medicine was working and there was still hope for us to have kids of our own.

Friday night the 22nd we were to babysit 3 kids, two were our niece and nephew and the other one was a 16 month of a guy that I work with. David and his wife (the parents of the 16 month old) hadn't been on a date basically since they got married, so Corey and I thought it shouldn't be too hard to add another kid to the slumber party. Hank and Marie were to meet up with us at dinner so Hank could experience first hand the changing of a real child's diaper, not just the plastic one they give you in Birthing Class. Having them along would be a lot of help too.

I left work early so I could finish cleaning up before everyone arrived. On my way home I felt real nauseous, I'm thinking to myself it's just because you took two migraine pills on an empty stomach, your not pregnant. But just to make myself feel better I stopped in at a pharmacy and got a pregnancy test. As soon as I got home to took the test and one solid pink line appeared and a faint pink line also appeared. I immediately start to panic, knowing what that faint line meant. I gathered myself together and decided to ask Marie how faint her line was when she first took a pregnancy test. She said it was really faint. At this time I begin to panic more when Marie says "Amanda you're pregnant". After hanging up the phone denial started to take over. I wanted to be a mom and have children but the actually idea of that coming true was......unbelievable. SO with me being in denial I went on the rest of the evening acting normal and not saying anything to anyone. The next morning after the kids were gone I took another test before I got in the shower, same results, still in denial. Keep in mind that Corey still doesn't know anything because I wanted to be able to surprise him. Corey and I ran a few errands that day and I decided to tell him that I thought I was pregnant, but I don't think I am. He was confused by my comment and didn't understand my non positive statement. Once we got home he immediately looked up online what a faint line on a pregnancy test means. I know what it means but I'm still in the denial stage. Corey basically said your pregnant and I said no way.

We receive a phone call from Marie telling us her water broke and she is headed home to take a shower and then off to the hospital. After realising how Hank and Marie were about to deliver, my denial of being pregnant starts to lift a little and Corey offers to go get another pregnancy test. I told him to get one that says "yes" or "no", so he bought back a digital one. I did my thing and asked Corey if he wanted to tell me the results or if he wanted me to tell him. He said he wanted to do the honors, so I went in the living room and waited. Corey comes around the corner and says "now don't be upset, but we're pregnant", I say "are you serious?" and then start crying (tears of joy). Corey says this is the same reaction I gave him when he proposed to me. I have officially moved from denial to shock. WE ARE HAVING A BABY!!!

New Years

We had a great New Years, just hanging out with some close friends. Once again I didn't take any pictures. I wanted to share something that Corey and I would love to strive for this year, "Contentment".

This is Rick Warren's "Lessons in Contentment"
"I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." Philippians 4:11

1. Stop comparing yourself to others - When you compare your life with someone else's, the only place it can lead is toward discontentment. There will always be people who appear to be better off than you, but you don't know their real circumstances.

2. Be grateful for who you are and what you have. - You are unique, God created you to be like nobody else, so why would you want to be anyone else. God is perfect, and you were his perfect choice to be you. Understanding that is a huge step toward being content with your life. And then look at all the things God has given you. So often we allow what we don't have to dominate our focus that we forget the many wonderful things we already have, not only material blessing, but far more important things, such as family and friends.

3. Give yourself to others. - If you will begin giving yourself to others, sharing what things you do have, sharing your time and your talents, you will find yourself learning to be content. Helping others will give you an appreciation for waht you have and who you are, but more importantly, you will find yourself growing content. God designed us to serve and share with others, and until we do that, we will feel great discontent.

4. Focus on things with eternal value. - Think about the things in your life: What will last forever? What will last at least for your lifetime? What will last a few short years, or months, or days? Based on eternal value, what things are most important in your life? Where and with who should you put your most time and energy? By re-organizing your life around eternal priorities, you'll find yourself growing in contentment as you live according to God's design and purpose.

These are just a few things for us to not only think about but take action on this year.
